Belly fat troubles everyone, but very few people know that the fat deposited above and below the navel is not the same. The reasons for their formation are different and the methods to reduce them are also different. If you also understand the difference between these two types of fat, then you can reduce your belly fat quickly by adopting the right measures.
Belly fat is not just an visible problem, but there are many internal reasons behind it. People often ignore it by saying “belly has come out”, but in reality there are two different types of fat accumulated above and below the navel and the reasons for both are also different. If these are understood then it becomes easy to reduce belly fat. The fat in the upper abdomen is called visceral fat. This fat accumulates around the organs inside the body, hence it is considered more dangerous. Stress, staying awake for long hours, drinking too much tea and coffee and eating oily food are the major reasons for increasing this fat. When stress increases, more cortisol hormone is released, due to which fat starts accumulating rapidly in the upper abdomen. This type of fat can later increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.
Whereas, lower abdominal fat generally increases due to weak digestion, less active lifestyle and hormonal imbalance. When estrogen levels deteriorate in women, fat accumulates below the navel. In men, eating heavily late at night, working continuously while sitting and problem of gas or constipation increases this fat. Due to this, problems like bloating, constipation, back pain and fatigue also increase.
According to Ayurveda, the fat on top indicates Pitta and Vata imbalance, while the fat below indicates increased Kapha. But the good thing is that both types of fat can be controlled with right diet and lifestyle. Drinking lukewarm water one hour before sleeping at night reduces gas and heaviness and helps in reducing fat in the lower part.
