RPF jawans of Eastern Railway set an example of humanity by saving the lives of four passengers in Sealdah, Asansol, Howrah, Andhra Pradesh, Barasat and Halishahar-Naihati as part of mission service.
Kolkata. Under its campaign ‘Mission Seva’, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Eastern Railway is not only fulfilling the responsibility of the property and security of the Railways, but is also setting an example of humanity. Tasks like helping sick passengers, taking injured people to hospital, taking care of abandoned children have now become a part of the RPF’s daily duties.
According to Eastern Railway, the latest case is of December 7. RPF personnel of Sealdah and Asansol divisions saved the lives of four sick and injured people in a single day. First of all, a passenger suddenly fell ill at Howrah railway station. The RPF personnel on duty on the platform immediately helped him and admitted him to the nearest government hospital.
On the same day, a passenger’s health deteriorated in a train near Andhra station. The RPF jawan patrolling the train immediately alighted him and sent him to the hospital for treatment. The third case is of Barasat station. There a person was found bleeding from injuries. RPF took him to the hospital without any delay.
The fourth accident occurred between Halishahr-Naihati section, where a person was lying injured on the side of the track. The RPF team monitoring the trains rescued him as soon as he saw him and got him treated. Eastern Railway officials said that under ‘Mission Seva’, RPF personnel keep an eye on the stations and trains day and night. As soon as a passenger is seen in trouble, whether he is sick, injured or a child wandering alone, help is immediately provided.
Passengers have also appreciated the promptness of RPF. A passenger said, ‘In the Railways, there are not just ticket checkers, we also have brothers and sisters who do true service.’ Eastern Railways says that Mission Seva is not just a campaign, but a feeling ingrained in the heart of every RPF jawan, which is making the lives of hundreds of passengers safe and easy every day.
