Gumla. It is said that if there is a determination in the heart to achieve something and one works honestly to achieve it, then success is definitely achieved. This applies absolutely to Sumit Singh of Gumla city. Sumit started a small tea stall with just a small shop and a table, near the bus depot on Lohardaga Road, Dunduria, with just 2 liters of milk. In the beginning he was afraid that he would not know whether the shop would run or not. Customers also came in limited numbers, but Sumit did not lose courage. Irrespective of the weather – cold, heat or rain – he kept working hard opening his shop from morning till late night.
Today, as a result of that hard work, his tea has become famous in the entire district. People from other districts also come here to taste the tea. Today, more than 35 liters of milk is consumed daily at his stall and more than 500 cups of tea is sold. This stall is operated under the name ‘Tandoori Chai Snacks’ at Lohardaga Road, Dunduria.
35 liter milk consumption
Sumit Kumar Singh tells that he started this tea stall about three years ago. Gradually people started liking their tea and the demand kept increasing. Now the situation is that about 35 liters of milk is used to make tea every day.
Tea is prepared in pure milk.
The specialty of their tea is also unique – not a single drop of water is used in making tea. Tea is prepared only by adding sugar, special kind of tea leaves and cardamom to pure milk. After adding all the ingredients, the tea is boiled thoroughly for 20–25 minutes, due to which its taste becomes excellent. This is the reason why people like the tea here very much and it is discussed in the entire district.
Talking about the price, cup tea is Rs 10, Kulhar tea is Rs 12, tea without sugar is also available. Apart from this, tea with jaggery is available for Rs 15 and coffee for Rs 20 per cup. Special biscuits, cakes, cold drinks etc. are also kept at the shop for the customers.
