Coriander Side Effects: According to Ayurveda, eating food according to the season in every month maintains the balanced power of the body. This time the month of Paush (Pus) will start from Saturday 6th December 2025 and will continue till Saturday 3rd January 2026. Pausha month is the last month of Hemant season, when the day becomes shorter and the night becomes longer. The environment is dominated by fog and cold winds, due to which the accumulation of Kapha and Vata doshas increases. Due to this, the possibility of arthritis, rheumatism, dyspnea, catarrh, rheumatic fever and skin diseases increases.
Dr. Nagendra Sharma told that in this season it is necessary to adopt “Guru-Diet” which suppresses Vata-Kapha. That is, one should consume fatty foods containing sweet, acid and salty juices and should stay away from dry, bitter, spicy and extremely cold foods.
What to adopt in the month of Pausha
Smooth diet: Dishes prepared with milk, ghee, curd and sesame oil.
Dry fruits: Almonds, cashews, walnuts and pigeon pea seeds.
Jaggery: For natural sweetness in place of sugar.
Celery, ginger and cloves: These herbs control vata-kapha and increase digestion power.
Cereals: Wheat, rice, barley and sesame.
Ayurvedic Rasayan: Chyawanprash, Ashwagandha-Pak, Badam-Pak, Amla, Shatavari, Vidarikand, Akarkara and gum laddus.
Dr. Sharma said that these substances provide essential energy and nutrients to the body, which helps in accumulating strength throughout the year and increases immunity.
Avoid these things in the month of Pausha
Coriander: Completely prohibited for this month, as it can increase Vata‑Kapha.
Meat and liquor: Stimulates phlegm and bile in the body.
Alternative vegetables: Avoid brinjal, cauliflower, radish and excessively raw or fried vegetables.
Pulses: Lentils and urad pulses can increase Kapha-Vata.

Dr. Nagendra Narayan Sharma told that if this seasonal ritual is adopted sincerely, then not only will we be protected from winter diseases, but we will also get long term health benefits. According to Ayurvedic principles, by adopting a balanced diet and proper lifestyle in the month of Pausha, we can keep our body pure, strong and disease-free.
