Bada Bagh means ‘big garden’ and is a collection of mausoleums of famous rulers of the region. Bada Bagh, located just 5 kilometers away from the city, is a charming place to visit in Jaisalmer. Located near a garden in the desert, these remains are a testimony to the mythological past of Rajasthan. The construction of these mausoleums started in the 17th century and the first mausoleum was built in honor of Maharaja Jai Singh II by his son.
Tanot Mata Temple is located near the India-Pakistan border. In the Longewala war of 1971, there was heavy shelling of about 3000 bombs from the other side but no bomb exploded around the temple. Local people and soldiers in and around the temple were safe. Since then the temple is looked after by the Border Security Force and unexploded bombs are kept safe in the premises.
