Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the toughest action so far against illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators. In a high-level meeting held with senior officials on Monday, CM Yogi said in clear words, “There should not be a single illegal infiltrator in the state.” For this, strict instructions have been given to immediately set up a detention center and start the process of sending all the identified infiltrators back to their native countries.
sharpen the agenda of Hindutva
Yogi Adityanath’s strike rate was very effective in the recently concluded Bihar elections. Sources in BJP and RSS say that the face of saffron-clad Yogi can prove to be the strongest weapon in sharpening the agenda of Hindutva. There are preparations to repeat the same formula in Bengal also.
SP’s counterattack: “Conspiracy to cut votes”
The main opposition Samajwadi Party has launched a scathing attack on this announcement of the Chief Minister. SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav termed it as a direct conspiracy to break the PDA (Backward-Dalit-Minority) vote bank. Akhilesh Yadav raised the question, “How many infiltrators were caught casting their votes in Bihar elections? Election Commission should tell. BJP has been in government at the Center for 11 years and in UP for 8 years. If infiltrators came, they came under their rule only. Now how did you suddenly remember this before the elections?” SP leaders say that this campaign is just a way of targeting the minority community and doing politics of polarization.
Heat will increase in the coming days
However, the Yogi government has made it clear that this campaign is not against any particular community, but only against the foreign citizens living illegally. Police and intelligence agencies have been instructed to speed up the survey in all the districts. Political analysts say that the issue of infiltrators is now going to become the biggest weapon for the 2027 UP and 2026 Bengal elections. There is every possibility that this war will intensify with sharp statements from both sides and from the streets to the House. At present, the process of building a detention center has started in UP and soon the news of the first batch of infiltrators being sent back will start coming out. It will be interesting to see how far this campaign goes and how much impact it has on the coming election season.
