Weather News: Cold continued to wreak havoc across North India on Sunday. Severe cold affected life from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe cold wave conditions at some places in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha on Monday and Tuesday. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at eight degrees, which was 6.8 degrees a day earlier. It was still 1.6 degrees below normal. On the other hand, the minimum temperature continues to fall from Bihar-Jharkhand to Bengal. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning in at least 8 districts of Jharkhand. At the same time, a warning of heavy rain has been issued in the south coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well as in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, IMD has predicted dense fog in some parts of the state till Wednesday. A yellow alert has also been issued for dense fog in some parts of the reservoir area of Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur district and some parts of Balh valley in Mandi district from morning till Monday.

Yesterday in Punjab, minimum temperature was recorded at 4.6 degree Celsius in Bathinda and Gurdaspur, while 6 degree was recorded in Firozpur, 6.1 degree in Amritsar, 6.8 degree in Ludhiana and 8.9 degree in Patiala. In Haryana, the minimum temperature was recorded at six degrees in Bhiwani, 6.2 degrees in Hisar, 6.6 degrees in Sirsa, seven degrees in Karnal, 7.8 degrees in Rohtak and 9.8 degrees in Ambala.
Rajasthan in the grip of severe cold
It is extremely cold in Rajasthan also. Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius, which is slightly higher than 2.3 degrees a day earlier. According to the Meteorological Department, on Sunday morning the lowest temperature was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius in Lunkaransar (Bikaner), 6 degrees in Dausa, 6.3 degrees in Churu, 6.4 degrees in Banasthali (Tonk) and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Jhunjhunu. The department said that due to a fresh but weak western disturbance, there is a possibility of light cloud cover in some parts of the state in the next few days, which will provide relief from the cold wave.
Coldwave in Jharkhand
The minimum temperature was recorded below 10 degrees Celsius in eight districts of Jharkhand. IMD said that there is a possibility of cold wave in some parts. The weather bulletin said Gumla recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 3.5 degrees Celsius. Whereas five degrees Celsius was recorded in Ranchi’s Khunti. The minimum temperature in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, was 7.5 degrees Celsius, while it was 6.5 degrees in Daltonganj and 9.6 degrees Celsius in Jamshedpur. The condition of Bihar adjoining the state is also similar. The entire state is in the grip of severe cold.
In West Bengal, mercury dropped
The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that for the first time the temperature in the plains of the state went below 10 degrees. The minimum temperature recorded in Shantiniketan on Sunday was 9.8 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of light to moderate fog in the northern districts of West Bengal. Darjeeling was the coldest in the hills at 6.2 degrees Celsius, while another Himalayan tourist town, Kalimpong, was the hottest at 10.5 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department said that between December 8 and 12, there will be dense fog in some areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. There is a strong possibility of this in some parts of Western Madhya Pradesh on Monday and in Odisha also by Tuesday. IMD said that the temperature in western India is expected to drop gradually by two to three degrees in the next three-four days, and no significant change is expected after that.
