Nita Ambani celebrates India’s craft heritage: Artisans and celebrities shine at Swadesh event

Swadesh Decembering Event: Recently, such a grand and heart-touching event was witnessed in Mumbai, which presented the beauty of Indian art, craft and fashion under one roof in a wonderful manner. Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani hosted the ‘Swadesh Decembering Event’, in which artisans, craftsmen, artists and many big Bollywood stars from across the country made the evening even more special with their presence. The colors of the evening were so beautiful that its pictures are continuously trending on social media. People are saying that this event was not just a show, but it was a wonderful celebration of India’s rich craft heritage, where tradition, art, fashion and glamor all came together to create a magical atmosphere. The vibe of Indian culture, the hard work of the artisans and the grace of the celebrities created such an atmosphere throughout the event that everyone just said – “This evening was something special”.

The most heart-touching moment of the event was the special gift made by Kal Baffi artisans, which was presented as a mark of respect to Mrs. Nita Ambani and Mr. Mukesh Ambani. Artisans Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Sofi and Mr. Shahnawaz Ahmed Sofi had prepared this unique portrait with the hard work of one year. It featured a combination of rare techniques like 3D lotus work, embossed zari, single-tone shading and walnut-wood carving. The portrait had a beautiful blend of 45 colors and 6 different shades in the face made of pashmina, dress made on silk and backdrop made of zari. Seeing this, both Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani looked very emotional and grateful.

Nita Ambani’s look was also much discussed in this event. She wore a mix peacock blue and silver Banarasi saree from Swadesh, which had delicate work done with Meena motifs and Kadhua weaving technique. Also, Manish Malhotra’s custom designed blouse, polki border, handmade deity buttons and vintage spinel tassel from his collection were giving a regal vibe to the entire look. Nita Ambani looked really gorgeous with a bindi on her forehead, subtle make-up and a smile full of grace.

There was also a wonderful collection of delicious food and desserts at the event. Beautiful cookies, cakes, pastries and various delicacies were decorated in such a way that every picture looked like a perfect post on Instagram.

Veterans of the fashion world were also seen in this evening. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Sonam Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Riteish-Genelia, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor and many other stars from Bollywood made the Swadesh event a star-studded evening with their traditional outfits. Deepika looked stunning in an off-white Anarkali, while Ranveer looked stylish and charismatic as always. Ananya Pandey won everyone’s hearts in an orange and silver work saree. Her glow and grace of her entire look are becoming quite viral on social media.

Swadesh Decembering Event was a cultural celebration in every sense. Here heritage, art, fashion, glamor and the hard work of Indian artisans shined together. The theme of Swadesh’s Decembering festival was India’s rich craft heritage. Here, artisans from different states of the country presented wonderful products, installations and textile art made with their own hands. Wooden artwork, Jamdani, Zari, handmade sculptures, Ikat, Paithani and many other beautiful art forms were presented in a very classy and modern manner. Nita Ambani praised this installation and the entire setup. She always believes in supporting Indian craft and Indian artists. He says that the full credit for keeping these traditions of India alive goes to those artisans who have been carrying this art forward for generations.

Many national award winning artisans from India who came to grace the Swadesh event also became a big part of the discussion. These included Padma Shri awardee Shri Biren Basak, who is considered a master of Tant and Jamdani weaving. He was also present along with Mr. V. Panneerselvam, an expert in Thanjavur painting, who has received both the Shilp Guru Award and the National Award. Seventh generation miniature painter Shri Shammi Bannu Sharma was also a part of this special evening. Mr. Ghanshyam Sarode, who revived Paithani textile, and National Award winner Ms. Gunjan Jain of Odisha Ikat also attracted everyone’s attention with their art. The presence of these artisans added both authenticity and depth to the event.
