Sidhi News: The amount of fiber and antioxidants in red potatoes is more than that in white potatoes. This strengthens the immunity and protects the body from falling prey to diseases.

At present there is a glut of fresh potatoes in the market from Haryana, Punjab and hill states. At present its price is around Rs 20 per kg. At present, white potatoes are in highest demand in the market, but red potatoes are also attracting the attention of buyers due to their special qualities.
While giving information to Local 18, health expert of Sidhi, Dr. RP Parouha said that both types of potatoes are beneficial in the winter season, but in terms of nutrition, red potatoes are considered slightly better.
Red potato strengthens immunity
According to Dr. Parouha, the amount of fiber and antioxidants (flavonoids) in red potatoes is higher than that of white potatoes. These increase immunity and keep the body safe from cold and cough. Vitamin C and anthocyanins present in red potatoes help in reducing inflammation in the body and improve the digestive system.
Helpful in keeping the body warm in cold
He further said that white potatoes are rich in carbohydrates and potassium, which provide instant energy and help in keeping the body warm in winter. Vitamin B6 and C are also present in it, which are considered beneficial for heart and blood pressure.
Red potatoes are slightly sweet
Dr. RP Parouha said that talking about taste, red potato gives a slightly sweet and creamy texture when cooked. It is mostly used for salads, roasted potatoes and baking. Whereas the taste of white potato is mild and it is mostly used in mashed potatoes, paranthas and daily vegetables.
