IMD Rain Alert: Due to continuous change in weather in the Bay of Bengal, sometimes cyclonic storm and sometimes heavy rain is continuing. The areas adjacent to the sea are most affected by this. IMD Rain Alert: The weather conditions remain harsh in some other states of South India including Tamil Nadu. The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) said on Sunday that light rain is expected to continue in many parts of Tamil Nadu till December 12. The north-east monsoon has strengthened in the southern districts, causing intermittent rain and cloudy skies in large parts of the state. According to the RMC, Kollam in Mayiladuthurai district and Uthuvil in Tirunelveli district recorded the highest rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Saturday, with 5 cm at both places. rained out. During this period, light rain also occurred in many other areas of Southern and Delta districts.
Meteorologists have attributed the current weather condition to the formation of a low pressure area along the South Kerala coast and surrounding areas. Due to the effect of this system, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder at some places in the southern districts, some northern districts, Puducherry and Karaikal. Light to moderate rain is expected at some places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from Sunday to December 12. Meteorologists said that although heavy rains on a large scale are not expected, light rains may continue in the southern and coastal districts.
How will the weather be?
RMC has predicted partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain and thundershowers at isolated places in Chennai during the day. Although no major flood threat has been issued for the state capital, residents have been advised to remain cautious during short spells of rain, especially during evening and night hours when thunderstorm activity may intensify. In view of the prevailing weather system and possibility of strong surface winds, RMC has issued a warning to fishermen. They have been advised not to go for fishing in the southern Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kumari Sagar area till December 10.
The condition of the sea will remain bad
Strong winds and rough sea conditions are expected in these areas, due to which marine activities may become unsafe during this period. Officials said the continuous rains are likely to benefit agriculture and improve water storage levels in many districts. However, district administrations have been instructed to remain alert and take precautionary measures to prevent local waterlogging, traffic jams and other weather-related problems. RMC said it will keep an eye on the changing weather patterns and issue updates as needed.
