Railways gave a clear message that technology is now with the passengers. But only for those who buy tickets through authorized means. The possibility of traveling on the basis of fake tickets should now be considered over. Valid ticket is the first rule of safe travel.
The new step of Railways can prove to be a big blow for the passengers who have the habit of traveling in trains without valid tickets. Now neither the ticket given by any broker will work nor the paper bought from the market will be useful. Indian Railways has made the ticket checking system completely digital and has provided an app to TTE which reveals the authenticity of any ticket in a few seconds. Using this technology, the team of DDU Mandal is running a campaign at many stations including Sasaram, Dehri on Son so that passengers can be stopped from getting fake or manipulated unreserved tickets.
During the campaign, officials told that UTS i.e. unreserved tickets issued by Indian Railways are not ordinary printed ones. Every ticket includes multiple levels of security features. Which includes the special font of the letters, the engine symbol on the upper left corner of the ticket, the stock number and random number recorded on the ticket, the watermark of Indian Railways on the stationery and the QR code present on the tickets issued from the thermal printer. As soon as the QR code is scanned, the authenticity of the ticket is immediately revealed, which virtually eliminates the possibility of any kind of manipulation.
Brokers often hand over fake or old tickets.
Railway personnel advised passengers to always buy tickets from authorized counters, ATVM machines or mobile UTS app. Even while showing the ticket on mobile, only the original ticket visible in the app will be valid, the ticket or screenshot saved in any folder will not be valid. Officials said that brokers often hand over fake or old tickets. Due to which, if caught, passengers may have to face heavy fine, cancellation of journey and even legal action. Commerce Department of DDU Mandal said that the new TTE app has the facility of online verification. TTE only scans the QR code of the ticket. Enters the UTS number. The app immediately tells whether the ticket is valid or fake. This process has not only made ticket checking faster but there is a possibility of a major hit to the entire network of fake tickets.
