In Katihar, a mass marriage of Pusho-Sunil, Kiran-Sanjay, Shanti-Sonelal, Vineeta-Vinod was organized by Kosi Regional Disabled Widow Vriddhi Kalyan Samiti, the message of humanity and inclusivity was received.
Such a unique and inspiring event took place in Katihar, which presented a great example of humanity and sensitivity not only in the entire district but also in the entire Kosi region. Kosi Regional Disabled Widow Enhancement Welfare Committee organized a mass marriage program on Monday, in which four disabled couples started a new journey of life. Pusho-Sunil, Kiran-Sanjay, Shanti-Sonelal and Vinita-Vinod – these four couples broke the social barriers and got into the sacred bond of marriage and proved that disability is not a hindrance in anyone’s happiness, but with strong willpower and social support, life can be made beautiful.
The function was organized at Agrasen Bhawan in the city, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and colorful decorations. The presence of local people was creating an atmosphere like a big festival. Common people, who came as wedding guests, became a part of the wedding and by participating in the happiness of the disabled couples, they gave a unique message of brotherhood in the society. The marriage took place with traditional Hindu rituals, in which the rituals of chanting mantras, Kanyadaan, seven rounds and blessings were performed with full devotion.

On this occasion, social organizations gifted necessary items to newly married couples to start a family. Many useful items including utensils, blankets, cots, clothes, sheets etc. worked to strengthen the new life of these couples. Many VIPs, public representatives, social workers and respected citizens were present in the program. Everyone praised the efforts of the organization and said that such events create new thinking and sensitivity regarding disability in the society.
Disability is not a hindrance, but a support
Shivshankar Ramani, officer of the organization, said that since 2010, mass marriages of disabled couples are being organized continuously. All preparations from registration to marriage are completed with the collective cooperation of institutions and social organizations. Neelam Lachhwani of Mahila Social Organization also praised this initiative and said that such an event not only gives respect to the disabled but also promotes inclusivity in the society. Overall, this mass marriage program remained the center of discussion in Katihar and gave the message that disability is not a hindrance, but the foundation of a happy life can be laid with cooperation and sensitivity.
