US Airstrike on Venezuela Boat Controversy: Currently Venezuela is on America’s radar. He is aggressively targeting small and big boats of Venezuela for drug smuggling. On September 2, America had conducted a similar airstrike, due to which the Trump government seems to be surrounded. The allegation is that America killed the people on the boat unnecessarily.
US Airstrike on Venezuela Boat Controversy: America has completely surrounded Venezuela at this time. However, now such reports are also coming which show the arrogance of America. According to the report of American newspaper CNN, the boats of suspected drug smugglers whose army attacked on September 2 were not going directly to America. This report refutes Trump’s claims that the boat was coming to America carrying drugs. Trump had said on September 2 that the boat was bringing dangerous drugs to America and terrorists were aboard it. Now this report has raised questions on his claim.
Admiral Frank Bradley, who oversaw the operation, told lawmakers that the small boat was actually going to meet a larger boat. Bradley also admitted that the people on the boat had turned the boat after seeing the American plane. This boat was going towards Suriname, a small country in South America. According to American intelligence, the small boat was to transfer drugs to the big boat, but the army could not find that big boat. Bradley said that the drugs could have reached America from Suriname, so America felt justified in attacking the small boat.
Why did America attack the boat?
Journalist Zackary Cohen also reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said immediately after the attack that the boat was probably headed towards Trinidad or another country in the Caribbean. The Admiral also told that the boat was supposed to meet a large ship, but the US military could not find that large boat. According to CNN report, the drug route through Suriname is usually used for Europe and not for America. American drug agencies say that recently most of the drug routes leading to America have been found in the Pacific Ocean. The report also states that before the attack the boat had turned and changed its direction and then it was attacked. In 4 attacks by America, the boat broke into two parts and 2 people survived, who were later killed and the boat sank completely.
Pressure to release video of attack
Till now, no comment has been made by the Pentagon regarding this matter. According to the law of war, killing shipwrecked people is a war crime. US lawmakers are supporting the Caribbean military action but objecting to the deaths of survivors of repeated attacks on boats. As far as the Senate Armed Services Committee has said to investigate it. In this case, the role of Defense Minister Pete Hegseth is under siege, regarding which it is being said that the aim of the mission was to sink the boat by killing the 11 people present on the boat. Now there is pressure to share the video of the entire incident. No one from the Defense Department is saying anything on this and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
