Instead of running outside, people hid in the basement. Nobody was able to understand anything. Within no time, the smoke of the fire spread throughout the basement and people died of suffocation even before they could burn. If these people had come out of the basement and ran outside, perhaps their lives could have been saved. But it is said that when death overshadows a person, conscience dies first. This is exactly what happened in this Goa fire incident.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that according to initial information, the night club did not follow fire safety norms. We will take action against the club management and officials who ignored the violation of safety norms. We will thoroughly investigate the incident and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
What did the BJP MLA say?
Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Michael Lobo said that all 23 bodies have been recovered from the premises and have been taken to the Government Medical College in Bambolim. The fire department and police teams immediately reached the spot and remained engaged in rescue operations throughout the night. He said the authorities will conduct a fire safety audit of all the clubs to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. The MLA said that Calangute Panchayat will issue a notice to all night clubs on Monday asking them to show fire safety permissions. He said that the licenses of those clubs which do not have the necessary permissions will be cancelled.
