In Piplod police station area of Khandwa, an 18-year-old girl has accused married Meharban and his wife Shabnam of sexual exploitation, blackmailing by making objectionable videos and forced religious conversion. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case under several sections including rape, IT Act and Religious Freedom Act. Meharban is arrested while Shabnam is absconding.
Khandva. A case has come to light from Piplod police station area of the district which has shaken the entire area. An 18-year-old Hindu girl has complained to the police that married youth Meharban Munir and his wife Shabnam lured her into love and physically abused her for several days. According to the complaint, the couple made objectionable videos of the girl to intimidate and control her and later used them as threats. The girl alleges that she was not only blackmailed but was also pressurized to convert to Islam.
The victim told that this incident took place between 22 October and 3 December. In the statement given to the police, the girl said that Meherban took her into confidence and grew close to her and took her to his house several times, where his wife Shabnam was also present. The girl says that both of them together threatened her, beat her and somehow pressurized her to continue the relationship and change her religion. According to the girl, when she protested, her videos were made viral on social media and her brother was threatened with death. After the matter came to light, Hindu organizations supported the girl and lodged a complaint in the police station, after which the police registered a case under several serious sections. Police are now taking further action on the basis of digital evidence and technical investigation.
