Due to huge flight cancellations of Indigo, the problems of passengers across the country increased and considering this situation, Indian Railways came forward. Railways immediately ran 84 special trains so that the stranded people could reach their destination. The biggest crowd was seen in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Chennai and Railways tried to handle the situation by deploying additional racks and staff.
1. Immediate entry of Indian Railways: Thousands of passengers got stuck at the airport after a large number of IndiGo flights were cancelled. Considering the situation, Railways decided to run 84 special trains without any delay. Due to this, people got a quick option of travel.
2. Large scale preparations by Railway Ministry Railway Ministry said that a total of 104 trips have been planned. Railways took this decision after real-time analysis of crowd at hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.
3. If needed, more trains will also run. Railway Board Executive Director Dilip Kumar said that as the demand increases, the number of special trains will be increased further. All zones have been alerted and instructions have been given to keep additional racks ready.

4. Direct coordination with airports: Railways is also coordinating with airports to provide information to the passengers. Train schedules are being displayed on screens in airport terminals at many stations so that stranded people can choose their option immediately.
5. Rapid action by South Eastern Railway: South Eastern Railway issued a public notice to make the passengers aware. This zone also asked the airport authorities to display information about the special train on the boards of the terminal.
6. Additional trains of Western Railways Western Railways has run special trains from Mumbai Central on routes like New Delhi, Bhiwani and Shakar Basti. Connectivity has also been increased on routes like Bandra Terminus to Durgapura and Valsad to Bilaspur.
7. Joint preparation of Central and Northern Railways Central Railways decided to run 14 special trains while Northern Railways is providing 10 additional services. Officials said that operations will be kept flexible according to the crowd.
8. Indigo’s problems increased the demand for rail travel. Due to the delay and cancellation of Indigo that has been going on for five days, passengers have more confidence in the Railways. Many passengers complained about bag mishandling and long queues, after which special trains became a big relief for the people.
