New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged people to completely free the country from the mentality of slavery in the next 10 years. He emphasized that today every region is abandoning the colonial mentality and aiming for new achievements with pride. PM Modi said, “Macaulay’s policy, which sowed the seeds of mental slavery in India, will complete 200 years in 2035. This means that there are still 10 years left. Therefore, in these 10 years, we all will have to come together to free our country from the mentality of slavery.”
Addressing the ‘Hindustan Times Leadership Summit’, he said, “Linking the country’s development to the faith and identity of its people… this was a symbol of the colonial mentality.” PM Modi said, “India’s self-confidence was shaken by the ‘colonial mentality’, but now we are moving beyond it.” The Prime Minister said that at a time when the world is full of uncertainties, India seems to be in a different league. He said that the changes taking place in India are not just about possibilities, but are the story of changing thinking and direction.
PM Modi said, “We are standing at a juncture where one-fourth of the 21st century has passed. The world has seen many ups and downs: financial crisis, global pandemic, technological disruption, we are seeing wars, these situations remain a challenge for the world in some form or the other.” He said that the world is full of uncertainties, but India is being seen in a different league.
PM Modi said, “India is full of confidence. When it comes to economic slowdown, India writes the story of development. When there is a lack of trust in the world, India is becoming a pillar of trust. When the world is divided into pieces, India works as a bridge.”
Pointing to India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of more than eight percent in the second quarter, he said, “This is a symbol of our momentum.” PM Modi said, “This is not just a number, but a strong macroeconomic signal. It is a message that India is becoming the growth engine of the global economy.” He said that the global growth rate is about three percent, while the G-7 economies are growing at an average rate of about 1.5 percent.
PM Modi said, “At such a time, India is a model of high growth and low inflation.” In his address, he said, “There was a time when people, especially the economists of our country, used to express concern about high inflation, but the same people now talk about low inflation.” PM Modi said that India’s achievements are not ordinary, it is not a matter of numbers, but of the fundamental changes that have taken place in the last decade.
