Chandauli: The video of celebratory firing during a marriage ceremony in Rohakhi village of Ilia police station area of Chandauli district of UP is becoming increasingly viral on social media. This 11 second video has brought the police administration into action. The young man firing the pistol in the video is said to be a local BDC member. The police have identified the accused and taken him into custody.
Video of firing went viral on social media
A video of a marriage ceremony organized in Rohakhi village is spreading rapidly on social media. It is clearly visible in the video that some youths are dancing to Bhojpuri songs and instigating a youth to fire a pistol. The young man is seen firing openly without any restriction. After the video went viral, panic spread among the local people and the police immediately started investigation.
The incident took place during a wedding ceremony.
Police investigation revealed that the incident was a week old and was shot during a wedding ceremony. Many youths present at the function not only carried out this dangerous activity but also recorded it and shared it on social media. The police have issued strict warnings several times regarding such haphazard firing, but despite this, such incidents are not stopping.
The youth who opened fire turned out to be a BDC member
The young man seen in the video is an area Panchayat member of the same village. The villagers have identified the youth as Abhishek Pandey alias Vipin Pandey. Abhishek is a resident of Rohakhi village and is said to be the son of Prabhu Narayan Pandey. When the viral video was shown to the villagers, they confirmed the identity. Police said that this type of firing is not only a legal offense but it can also pose a serious threat to someone’s life.
Police action, accused in custody
Police station incharge Arun Pratap Singh said that the video has been technically examined and the process of identification of all the youths seen has been started. Accused Abhishek Pandey has been taken into custody and necessary legal action is being taken against him. Police clearly said that harsh firing will not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
