Demolition of Babri Masjid: Today marks 33 years of the demolition of the disputed structure that was demolished in Ayodhya and across the country on 6 December 1992. This is the day when the way was made to build a grand and divine temple of Ramlala in Ayodhya. Ramvilas Vedanti was also a witness to this incident, to whom the saints had entrusted the responsibility of taking the resolution letter to the Ramkatha stage. While talking, Ramvilas Vedanti remembered that day one by one. Let us tell you that 33 years ago today, Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya, the echo of which was heard not only in India but all over the world. After the demolition of Babri Masjid, a grand Ram temple was constructed on 22 January 2024.
Special conversation on the struggle of Ram devotees
Spiritual guru and former MP Ram Vilas Vedanti, who was associated with the Ram Temple movement from the beginning, gave a special talk on the disputed structure that was demolished 33 years ago and the struggle of Ram devotees. Ramvilas Vedanti tells that on 6 December 1992, a large number of saints and kar sevaks were sitting on the platform of the complex built at Ram Janmabhoomi. Lord Ram was worshiped along with the worship of Gauri-Ganesha. The idea was going on that how a grand and divine Ram temple should be built. Mahant Avaidyanath Maharaj, Paramhans Shriramchandra Ji Maharaj, Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj, Bharat Mata Temple founder Swami Satyamitranand Giri, Acharya Dharmendra, Swami Chinmayanand, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati and Ashok Singhal were sitting in the worship of Gauri Ganesh.
Ram Vilas Vedanti went on stage
Vedanti told that after worshiping Gauri Ganesh, Ashok Singhal had asked Paramhans Shriramchandra Ji Maharaj to go to the Ramkatha stage and make a resolution, but seeing the crowd of lakhs present there, he refused. Similarly, other saints also refused to go. After this, Mahant Avaidyanath Maharaj took my name and said that only Vedanti can go among the crowd. Then that resolution letter was given to me.
‘All the kar sevaks knew very well’
He told that teams of organizations like Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Marathi Swayamsevak Sangh, in the number of thousands, stormed the Ram Janmabhoomi complex with full speed. There is a pipe wall outside, which has been demolished. I used to manage the stage, so all the kar sevaks knew me well. So everyone took me to the top as best I could. After reaching the stage, I saw that security personnel were deployed there. The officers repeatedly gave orders to fire, but no one fired.
Kalyan Singh gave direct orders
Remembering late Kalyan Singh, Ram Vilas Vedanti said that Kalyan Singh, who was the Chief Minister at that time, had given a direct order that no bullets would be fired. After this there was no firing in that premises. Meanwhile, Kar Sevaks climbed up to demolish the disputed structure. Excavation had started from below also. Vedanti told that Acharya Satyendra Das Ji Maharaj took Ramlala in his lap and other saints took the rest of the gods and goddesses in their lap and left from there. After this the car service had started.
Statues of Gods and Goddesses in 14 pillars
Ramvilas Vedanti said that I had started the resolution on the stage. I raised a slogan there, ‘Ram’s name is true, Ramlala’s structure is demolished.’ This is because I never described that structure as a mosque, because there was no sign of a mosque in it. The 14 pillars of Kasauti, which Babar could not break, had idols of gods and goddesses in them. Hindu religious symbols were on those pillars.
Parikrama of Ram Janmabhoomi
He told that there was a parikrama of Ram Janmabhoomi all around inside the structure. There is no parikrama in any mosque. When I was in Ramlala temple, I remember well that no Muslim offered namaz there because there were idols there. We destroyed the ruins. We knew that as long as it remained in ruins, the temple would not be built. Therefore, we cleared the way for building a grand temple of Ramlala by demolishing the ruins.
Ramlala was enthroned
Ramvilas Vedanti says that after demolishing the ruins, a platform was built in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, where Ramlala was enshrined. After this the puja was started. Karseva continued the next day on 7th December also. The speeches continued till the evening the next day. I still remember that scene of 1992. All this happened in front of my eyes.
