Ayodhya: It has been 33 years since the demolition of Babri Masjid. The issue of construction of Dhannipur Mosque in Ayodhya is once again in discussion. After the 2019 decision of the Supreme Court, 5 acres of land was allotted to Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque in Dhannipur village, but even after five years, the construction work has not started on the land.
Actually, now a major change has been made in the mosque being built in Dhanipur. Changes have also been made in the design of the mosque. The mosque will now be named after Mohammad Bin Abdullah, for whose NOC the trustees of the Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust will also submit an application to the Ayodhya Development Authority on December 31. Reactions of many parties and local people related to this have come to the fore on this occasion.
Muslim parties spoke about construction of mosque
Former Babri Masjid litigant Iqbal Ansari said that the Supreme Court has given its final decision and has also handed over the land for the construction of the mosque. Now the further responsibility lies with the Sunni Waqf Board, it will decide when and how the mosque will be built. Ansari claimed that the Muslims of Ayodhya and the country are not worried about the delay in the construction of the mosque. He said that at the place where land has been given in Dhannipur, there is no special need for a mosque. He said that Gods and Goddesses of all religions and castes are present in Ayodhya. There is respect and brotherhood here, there is no tension of any kind. The Muslims of the country are no longer worried about this issue.
Construction work will start after the map is passed
Ayodhya Waqf Committee Chairman Azam Qadri informed that the new architectural map for Dhannipur Mosque will be filed with the Ayodhya Development Authority on December 31. Construction work will be started only after the map is passed. Qadri also said that most of the Muslims of Ayodhya will not go to Dhannipur Mosque to offer namaz, as the place is about 25 kilometers from the city. According to him, it is not practical to go such far distances for five times a day prayers. The temple has been built, now it is the job of the Waqf Board people to decide when to build the mosque.
Since the announcement of the Dhannipur Masjid project, the design and construction timelines have been revised several times, but work on the ground has not yet started. A plan for a complex with hospital, museum and community facilities has also been presented by the Waqf Board, but due to pending administrative procedures, the work could not progress. On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary, it has once again become clear that the priorities of the local community regarding the construction of the mosque have changed. Now all eyes are on the new map on December 31 and the subsequent action.
