Uttarakhand Weather Update Today: Due to falling mercury in the hilly areas, Uttarakhand has started experiencing severe cold in the morning and evening. Due to severe cold, rivers and streams in Pithoragarh and Chamoli have frozen. So right now, from the mountains to the plains, the weather remains completely stable. Meanwhile, after the warning of snowfall in the mountains on 4th and 5th December, a sharp drop in temperature may be seen today, 6th December.
Shivering cold in the plains, minus threshold in the mountains
According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, this morning the minimum temperature in the plains can be between 4°C to 7°C, while in the mountains the temperature can go down to 0°C to 3°C. At this time, chill will be felt due to strong cold wind and light mist. Slippage may increase due to frost accumulation on many mountain roads. In such a situation, those going out in the morning will have special need for warm clothes, shawls and jackets.
Some relief during the day, but cold wind will continue
The temperature is expected to soften slightly during the day. In the plains, the maximum temperature during the day can reach 15°C-18°C. Whereas in the mountains it is expected to be 6°C-10°C. Light sunlight can provide relief, but cold wind and humidity will keep you shivering. As soon as there are clouds or snowfall, the cold can intensify again.
Temperature below zero in high altitude areas
As the evening approaches, the temperature will start falling again. The night temperature in the plains can reach 5°C-8°C, while in the mountains it can reach -1°C to 2°C. There is a possibility of snow accumulation during the night in high altitude areas, making the roads more slippery.
