Hazaribagh: Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand is an agricultural district. Here two-thirds of the people of the district are associated with farming. There are many progressive farmers here, who are always in the news for their latest farming and experiment techniques. The name of farmer Ram Prasad Kushwaha of Amanari village of Sadar block area of the district comes at the top. Till now he has cultivated more than 200 unique varieties. He remains an example for other farmers of the district.
Know what the farmer told about farming
Farmer Ram Prasad Kushwaha told Local 18 that he started farming about 32 years ago. His father was a government employee, due to which people joked that children of government employees would not be able to do farming, but Ram Prasad took it as a challenge and started experimental farming on new models, moving away from traditional farming.
He told that instead of normal crops, he cultivates various types of rare, exotic and unique fruits and vegetables. They not only get good profits from this. In fact, people even come from far away places to see his fields. Initially, he used to collect rare seeds by visiting agricultural fairs across the country, but after the advent of internet, he started ordering seeds online also.

Farmer Ram Prasad Kushwaha tells that till now he has grown Red Radish, Black Carrot, Purple Cauliflower, Yellow Watermelon, Dragon Fruit, Sugar Baby Watermelon, Japanese Cucumber, Black Tomato, Rainbow Carrot, Round Brinjal, Red Lady Papaya, Italian Zucchini, Thai Long Gourd, White Brinjal, Orange Ladyfinger, Strawberry Spinach, Mushroom Gourd, Blue Corn, Red Chilli, Thai Green Chilli, Black Variety of Maize on his land. Unique varieties like Wheat Kale, Japanese variety of Cucumber, Red Corn, Long Bitter Gourd, Broccoli, Chinese Cabbage, Red Cabbage, Green Lettuce, Cherry Tomato, Sweet Pepper, Five Colored varieties of Bell Pepper, Mini Pumpkin, Thai Taroi, Purple Beans, French Beans, Black Sesame, White Corn, Japanese Turnip have been successfully grown.

There is so much diversity in his farm that people also call him a unique farmer. He has now become recognized as a demo farmer in the entire state. Many young farmers are taking inspiration from him and starting cultivation of new techniques and new species. Farmer Ram Prasad Kushwaha says that new experiments are necessary to connect the next generation with farming. Where the next generation cannot be involved in farming through traditional farming, due to which food crisis will arise in future. At the same time, farmers should also have the courage to innovate and take risks.
