Patna: In Bihar, winter has started showing its most severe form this season. The severe cold of December is beginning to be felt. For the first time in the season the temperature has reached close to 6°C. The effect of severe cold and dense fog is clearly visible. As soon as the sun sets, people’s lives start getting affected due to cold westerly winds and fog. The chill from evening till morning is such that people’s condition has become miserable. As soon as I wake up in the morning, a white blanket of fog is visible all around. For the first time the temperature in Patna has fallen below 10°C.
According to the forecast issued by Bihar Weather Service Center, today and tomorrow there will be moderate to dense fog in 25 districts including Patna, Purnia, Muzaffarpur, Gaya. Also, the day and night temperatures are expected to drop further by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. This means that the cold is going to increase further in the coming days.

During the next 2 days, morning and night thunderstorms will occur over parts of West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Patna, Aurangabad, Gaya, Lakhisarai, Sasaram and Kaimur districts. Light to moderate fog is expected at this time. The lowest visibility recorded in Purnia on Wednesday morning was 500 meters. The same situation is being seen even today.
The lowest temperature of the season so far is 6.7°C.
According to the data released by Bihar Meteorological Service Centre, the lowest minimum temperature so far this season was recorded at 6.7°C in Adhaura block of Kaimur (Bhabhua) district last night. Along with this, the minimum temperature of a total of 09 districts has been recorded below 10°C. In this, 9.9°C was recorded in West Champaran, 9.4°C in East Champaran, Rohtas and Saran, 9.5°C in Vaishali, 9.7°C in Patna, 9.9°C in Jamui, 9.8°C in Banka and 10°C in Gaya.
Apart from this, the minimum temperature of all the remaining districts was recorded between 10°C to 12°C. An increase of up to 0.1°C was seen in the day temperature during the last 24 hours.
According to the released forecast, the speed of westerly wind is going to increase further. Moderate to strong westerly wind (up to 40 km/hr) is expected in the state. The minimum temperature in most parts is likely to be between 8-12°C and the maximum temperature is likely to be between 24-28°C.
