Patna: After the implementation of the new flight duty time limit policy, IndiGo’s flight system has gone haywire. From Delhi to Patna, Indigo flights are suddenly getting canceled at many airports. This has increased the difficulties of the passengers. In this busy wedding season, the situation is such that somewhere the groom is stuck at the airport, while somewhere the couple going on honeymoon is waiting for hours in the terminal.
The condition of Patna Airport also looked similar. At around 2 pm on Friday afternoon, after changing three vehicles in a journey of about 50 kilometres, when Army soldier Laxman Bhatt reached the airport wearing a wedding kurta, he came to know that his flight had been cancelled. He had to report to Srinagar camp at 6 am the next day. If he does not reach on time, Rs 28,000 can be deducted from his salary and he may also have to face punishment under army rules. Due to this worry, soldiers were seen wandering here and there at the airport. While talking to Local 18, he expressed his problems.
Laxman Bhatt is serving in the Indian Army and is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. He is a resident of Mehnar, Bihar. It was clear from his attire that he had attended a wedding last night, because he was wearing a kurta worn at a wedding ceremony. He left home early in the morning to catch the flight.
If you do not report in the camp, you will be punished.
Laxman Bhatt got scared as soon as he heard the news of flight cancellation. His mind became numb and he became completely disturbed. His hands and feet started swelling in panic. He says, “I have to report to the camp by 6 am tomorrow. Today my flight has been cancelled, now how will I reach on time? If I miss reporting, around Rs 28,000 will be deducted from my salary and I will also be punished as per Army rules. Now I don’t know what to do.”
Laxman, who is full of anger and distress, further says that if the flight had to be cancelled, then at least the information should have been given in advance. I reached Patna from such a distance and now I am not able to go back. If we had known earlier, someone else would have made arrangements. Now I don’t understand what to do. I am an army soldier, bound by rules. If you don’t reach on time, there will be a big problem. Now I will talk to the company commandant. The leave will not be extended, so perhaps you will have to travel by train. Don’t even know whether we will get the train or not.
