Lips Care Tips In Winter : With winter being in full swing, cold can affect many parts of the body. Dryness of the skin is one of the most common problems in this season, while the drop in temperature can also be quite harmful for the lips. But once you know the reasons for chapped and dry lips, it becomes easier to take care of your lips. Let us know from experts why lips crack only in winter and what to do for it…
According to experts, the skin of the lips is very different and sensitive from the skin of other parts of the body. The skin of the lips is very thin and delicate. Normal skin has about 16 layers, while the rest of the body has only 3 to 5 layers. Because of this thin layer, the blood vessels under the lips are easily visible. The thin layer of lips loses moisture quickly. And as the humidity in the air decreases during the winter season, the water present in the lips starts drying up.
Like the rest of our body, the skin on our face also has sebaceous glands. These glands produce an oil called sebum. This oil keeps the skin soft and prevents it from drying and cracking. But these sebaceous glands are not present in our lips. This means that the lips do not get natural moisture, due to which their protection is reduced. And the lips start cracking.
These habits also become the cause of cracked lips
Some of our habits also cause chapped lips. When our lips become dry, we wet them again and again with our tongue. When our lips become dry, the enzymes in our tongue and saliva are reduced, making them even drier.
