Begusarai: A very interesting case has come to light for bank account holders in Begusarai district. The government is searching for the owner of Rs 78 crore from the bank. In fact, the full news is that a total of Rs 78 crore is deposited in 1,94,212 accounts lying dormant for years in the banks of Begusarai – such accounts which perhaps the owners themselves had stopped paying attention to. But now for the first time this amount is in the headlines. A camp is being organized on 5th December, which the local people are jokingly calling ‘Treasure Find Camp’. See this report and understand the whole story.
How was this secret account revealed?
According to Prashant Kumar Mishra, manager of District Leading Bank, this huge amount came to light during the review of inoperative accounts and unclaimed amount of banks. As per banking rules, the amount of accounts which have been non-operative for a long time is transferred to the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF) of RBI. The amount worth crores of the people of Begusarai was waiting for the owner’s claim for years.
The real owners are being searched
A big awareness camp will be organized at UCO RSETI located in Kankaul on 5th December. It has been named ‘Your Capital, Your Rights’. In this camp any citizen can claim their old bank accounts, deposits or financial assets. The claim process will be taken forward by showing passbook, identity card, Aadhaar or old documents related to the transaction.
The bank officials present in the camp will check the identity and account related facts on the spot. If the investigation is found to be correct, the amount—be it Rs 100 or Rs 1 lakh—will be returned directly to the rightful owner.
Is it your share in this 78 crores?
Officials say that there are a large number of people who do not even know that money is lying in some old account. Many accounts are forgotten due to change of job, leaving the village, bank merger, loss of passbook or accounts opened by elderly relatives.
Now the question is – does this 78 crores not belong to you, your parents, or any of your relatives?
If yes, then this camp is a golden opportunity to get back your ‘forgotten capital’. It is important that the people of Begusarai reach this camp with their documents, because who knows – the treasure in your name may be waiting for you for many years.
