Raju Sahni of Sitamarhi has developed a 365-day farming model of brinjal, through which farmers can get production and income throughout the year. This model is becoming increasingly popular among farmers. The biggest benefit of this method is that the farmer has got a fixed source of income.
Sitamarhi. Progressive farmer Raju Sahani of Sitamarhi has developed a unique and effective model in brinjal production, through which farmers can harvest the vegetable continuously throughout the year. According to him, if brinjal cultivation is done properly then the farmer gets benefits from it throughout the year. Raju Sahni tells that it takes about a month from sowing the brinjal seeds to planting the plant in the field, and then fruiting starts in one and a half months. With this, farmers start reaping the benefits of the initial cost and hard work.
Production possible for seven to eight months
According to Raju Sahni, the real strength of brinjal is its long fruiting period. A healthy plant continues to produce brinjal for six to seven months. This is the reason why this crop is continuously becoming a big source of income for the farmers. They say that if the plant continues to grow with proper care and does not become victim of any disease, then production is possible for seven to eight months. This model is the main basis of their farming, due to which they are able to cultivate brinjal continuously for 365 days.
Treat the disease immediately
However, some challenges also arise in farming. Raju Sahni tells that at present some crops growing in the field have been affected by a special type of drying disease. As soon as this disease occurs, the leaves of the plant start turning yellow, dry up and gradually start falling. If the plant becomes victim of this disease, its production capacity decreases rapidly and it is able to last only for a maximum of three months. This is the reason why farmers remove such plants soon and plant new crops, so that production and income are not affected.
Model becoming famous among farmers
Raju Sahani says that it takes about one and a half months for brinjal seedlings to be ready, but the real success of the plant depends on whether it remains disease free and healthy in the first three months. If the first three months pass without any problem, then the plant bears fruits continuously for seven to eight months. His 365-day farming model is becoming increasingly popular among the farmers of Sitamarhi, as it not only increases production but also ensures year-round income of the farmers.
