Under the Tirtha NH project, a road is being built from Uchchaith Bhagwati place in Madhubani to Siddha Peeth Tara place in Saharsa. On this road, the country’s longest 10 KM long bridge is being built on Kosi river between Koti embankment from Bheja in Madhubani to Bakour in Supaul. Vehicles will start running on it in about 1 to 1.5 years.
India’s longest bridge, ‘Bheja Bakour Bridge’ which connects Madhubani to Supaul, after its completion, the distance from Madhubani to Supaul will reduce from 100 KM to just 30 KM. This bridge is being built at a total cost of Rs 1200 crore. At present the longest bridge in India is Bhupen Hazarika Setu (9.15 KM). The total length of this bridge is more than 10 km. Its construction will not only benefit two districts but will also provide ease of transportation for many nearby districts. The distance from one city to another will be reduced by 70 kilometers.
It was told about this bridge that it has to be built on 170 pillars. In which the work of 76 pillars from Madhubani side and 56 pillars from Supaul (Bakaur) side has been completed. According to the current inspection of DM, it may take at least one and a half more years.
The bridge being built on the Koshi river between Madhubani and Supaul under the Tirtha NH project is 10.2 KM long, which will be 13.3 KM along with the approach path. It is being built on 170 spans (pillars). This is a 2 lane bridge being built and the highway connected to it is of 4 lane.

By building a bridge on Kosi river at a cost of Rs 1200 crore, the distance between Bheja (Madhubani) and Supaul (Bakaur) will be reduced. There will be relief from the problem of river overflow. Although, it was earlier told that the construction work will be completed by the end of this year, but as per the current situation, it may take at least 1 to 1.5 years more time.
