Winter Washing Tips: As beautiful as the clothes worn in winter look, their care becomes equally difficult. Jackets, coats, sweaters or woolen tops, all these clothes quickly pick up dirt, especially around their neck, sleeves, front and pockets. If you try to rub such parts vigorously again and again, the clothes start getting spoiled quickly, lint appears on them, the fluffiness of the clothes reduces and their old shine starts disappearing. Because of this, people most of the time choose the route of dry cleaning, but it is not easy for everyone to spend a lot of money every time they go to the shop. Nowadays, many easy home hacks go viral on social media, some of which prove to be really useful. One of them is the method given by digital creator Poonam Deewani, with the help of which thick woolen clothes can be cleaned at home without rubbing. The biggest advantage of this trick is that the clothes retain their softness, fluffiness and shine and washing does not require any effort at all. If you also want to clean thick winter clothes like dry clean at home, that too in less time and less expense, then this home method will prove to be very useful for you.
Why is this method effective?
As the creator explains, the dirt accumulated on winter clothes usually does not come out with regular washing. People rub their clothes vigorously to clean them, which causes stretch on the fabric and the wool threads start breaking. But the specialty of this trick is that it does not require any kind of force. The ingredients used do not loosen the fabric but help in keeping the wool of the cloth soft. The mixture of lukewarm water, shampoo and water creates a mild lather and automatically pulls out the dirt stuck inside. With this, the clothes get cleaned without any damage and start looking like new.
You will need these things
-lukewarm water
-Shampoo (not detergent)
-Half a packet of Eno
-conditioner or a little vinegar
How to wash winter clothes at home
1. Fill the tub with lukewarm water
Take such water in which hand can be easily inserted. Very hot water is not good for woolen clothes, it can cause the clothes to shrink.
2. Replace detergent with shampoo
Woolen fabric is delicate, detergent sometimes becomes heavy on it. Mild shampoo helps in keeping the clothes soft and does not damage the fibres.
3. Mix half Eno packet
As soon as it is mixed, a light foam starts forming. This foam loosens the dirt stuck on the clothes and removes it without rubbing.
4. Dip the cloth and leave it for 10–15 minutes.
Leave the jacket, coat or sweater completely immersed in water. After some time, the water will start appearing muddy, which is a sign that the dirt is coming out on its own.
5. Don’t squeeze the cloth, just change the water
Do not wring the cloth by hand. Just pour clean water and wash it gently two-three times.
6. Do the final wash with conditioner or vinegar
Then take water in a tub and add some conditioner or vinegar in it. Leave the cloth in it for 4-5 minutes. This brings back its fluffiness, increases freshness and makes the fabric feel very soft in the hand.
How to dry clothes?
Do not keep clothes directly in the sun. Strong sunlight can lighten the color of woolen clothes. Dry them by spreading a towel in a ventilated area inside the house. Due to this, the shape remains correct and the cloth dries quickly.
