Delhi: Vedant Dubey and Adarsh Vardhan, two first year B.Tech students of IIT Delhi, have created such an innovation. Which will make the habit of taking medicines on time, which has become a big problem in every household, easier. Both the students together have developed an IoT based smart home medicine storage box and reminder, which automatically rings at the scheduled time to remind to take the medicine.
How does this smart medicine box work?
According to the students, its working is very simple. The alarm can be set for any time through a web app. For example, if you have to take medicine at 8 in the morning, as soon as you enter the time in the app, the box will beep at the same time through LED light and buzzer. This entire system runs on ESP32 module, which can be connected to any device like mobile, laptop, tab.
Very useful for the elderly
Vedanta and Adarsh say that the biggest benefit will be to the elderly, because forgetting to take medicines is a common problem with increasing age. Most of the youth stay out of home due to job or studies and there is no one to remind the elderly to take their medicines on time. In such a situation, this box can prove to be completely helpful. Children can set medicine timings from the app even when they are away. Due to LED and buzzer the chances of forgetting are greatly reduced. This box is also portable, which means it is easy to take along while travelling.
This product will get better in future
The project took about 4 months to complete. He has done this work under his MEP 1000 course. Faculty and experts have suggested that if weight sensor and pickup sensor are added to it, it can become more commercially powerful. Such smart medical boxes available in the online market cost between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, while students say that their product can be easily prepared for Rs 5,000 or less.
