UKPSC PCS 2025: The Combined State Civil/Upper Subordinate Services Examination (Mains) of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) to be held on 6 December has been postponed. This exam was to be held from 6th December to 9th December. The Prelims examination was held in the month of June and some candidates had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the questions.
UKPSC PCS 2025: The Nainital High Court has given a blow to the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) and ordered to postpone the examination. The reason behind this is being given to 4 questions of the Prelims examination. The candidates had filed a petition regarding these questions. The court has given instructions to remove question number 70 and re-examine the remaining three so that the merit list is made in a fair manner. Many candidates including Kuldeep Kumar had given this challenge. After which the court banned this examination. This matter is of UKPSC 2024-25. Lakhs of candidates had applied for a total of 123 posts. The prelims exam was held on 29th June, but now the mains exam to be held on 6th December has been cancelled.
What is the whole controversy? 4 questions of prelims created ruckus
UKPSC Prelims exam had papers of General Studies and CSAT. Candidate Kuldeep Kumar and some others had filed a petition in the High Court that the 4 questions were wrong or unfair. Especially there was maximum objection on question number 70. It was related to history or current affairs, the correct answer to which was difficult to decide. After the hearing, the court clearly said that question 70 should be removed completely and the remaining three should be reviewed by an expert committee. The result of which was that the mains exam was postponed. UKPSC has not yet released the official notification but the new date will be released soon.
UKPSC PCS 2025: How many vacancies?
Uttarakhand PCS exam is the biggest recruitment in the state. In 2025, recruitment was done for a total of 123 posts of Deputy Collector, DSP, Block Development Officer etc. In Prelims there was GS paper of 150 marks and CSAT of 150 marks. Those who qualified were called for Mains, which was to be held from 6th to 9th December, but due to this decision of the court, the Commission will have to re-calculate the merit. If the questions are removed, the score may change and some candidates may be in and out. Discussion is going on in candidate groups that some are hoping for relief, while others are waiting for a new date.
