Bijapur Naxal Encounter: 18 Naxalites (9 women, 9 men) have been killed in the Bijapur encounter. A total of 1.30 crore prize cadres have been killed. 19 weapons have been recovered. Bastar IG Sundarraj P said in a press conference, “The remaining Naxalites will not be able to escape.”

Bijapur News: So far, bodies of 18 Maoists have been recovered in a major encounter that took place in the dense forests of West Bastar Division in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Bastar IG Sundarraj P gave complete information in a press conference on Thursday. Among the killed Naxalites, there are 9 women and 9 men. The biggest name is DVCM Vela Modiyami, carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh, who was the mastermind of major incidents like Jheeram Valley massacre, Tekulgudam and Minpa attack. Naxalites carrying a total reward of Rs 1 crore 30 lakh have been killed in this encounter.

IG said that most of the killed Naxalites were active fighters of PLGA Company No. 02. Identification of 16 Naxalites has been completed, while identification of 2 is still pending. 19 weapons have been recovered from the encounter site, which include 1 LMG, 4 SLR, 4 INSAS, 3 AK-47, other rifles, huge quantity of cartridges, pouches and explosives. The input was that 25-30 Naxalites were present in the area. Reinforcement party has been sent after the encounter. The entire area has been cordoned off and intensive searching is going on.

IG Sundarraj P clearly said, “The remaining Naxalites will not be able to escape under any circumstances.” Although this is a big success, but the security forces also had to pay a price. Three soldiers have been martyred. Paying tribute to the martyrs, the IG said, “We have lost three of our brave comrades, but our commitment to eliminate Maoism has become stronger.”
Strict warning to Naxalites
The IG said, “Concrete and effective action will continue against those who do not want to surrender. Illegal funding of Naxalites is being stopped. Top level cadres are either surrendering or being killed. The remaining Naxalites should surrender soon, otherwise they will have to face the security forces.” Let us tell you that this encounter is one of the biggest successes of the Naxal campaign in Bastar so far.
