A small bag tag decides which way your suitcase will go at the airport, when it will be received and whether it will be received or not. There are many types of these tags and each one has its own meaning. The most common is the check-in bag tag, which contains the airport code, barcode, and flight number. Through this, airport machines understand where your bag has to go and your entire journey is also tracked.
Do you know a small bag tag decides where your bag goes? When will it be available and whether it will be available or not? There are types of back tags installed at the airport and each one has a different meaning. The most common is check in back. This tag tracks your bag and your entire journey is in it. Like airport code, barcode and flight number are kept in it and from there the system decides where your bag will go.
This small cabin back tag tells the crew that your bag is allowed in the cabin and a big mistake many passengers make is not taking their cabin bag to the counter. They take you directly to the boarding gate, but if it is checked at the boarding gate that your bag does not have a tag, then they can also make you pay extra by checking the weight there. But not every airline has this tag.
This bag tag is used to handle and load the bag.
Some airlines use this tag. Next is the heavy tag. This is the tag when your bag is between 23 kg to 32 kg. This is then imposed and if your luggage is above 32 kg then it is not allowed in the flight. After this, comes the fragile tag, it is not just a fancy tag. This tells the staff that the bag should be loaded carefully and if there are some breakable items in your bag then you can also get it installed. This tag is cost free.
Now comes the priority tag. It appears on the bags of Business Class, Frequent Flyer or Premium Economy passengers and indicates that this bag is to be sent to the arrivals belt first. This is the most important tag. Apart from this there is a VIP tag. It is found on the bags of diplomats or VIP guests. This means that these bags should be handled with priority and extra care and these bags should be kept separately. Apart from this, there is a fire arm tag i.e. if the passenger carries a licensed weapon then his bag is cleared by special security and it is marked on it.
This tag is for children traveling alone
This alerts staff that this bag is to be handled securely. The third one is Unaccompanied tag. It is applied on the bags of children who are traveling without parents. This means that the bags have to be handled with special supervision and these children are more important than VIPs.
Apart from this, there is one such tag called crew bag tag. This is the tag which is placed on the bags of cabin crew or pilots. It tells the staff that this bag belongs to its crew. Then there’s the wheelchair tag. These are placed on the bags of passengers with wheelchair assistance. This tag indicates that the passenger has to provide a wheelchair upon arrival. But it is rarely used in India.
If your bag is missed or not loaded in the previous flight or is left at the airport from any region, then it is sent on the next flight at express speed and this is called rust tag. Not only this, the airline also has other special tags. Like UR, back tags, oversize tag, check in sticker or LRT tag etc.
