Magic of sports: IPL again becomes number 1
Cricket has always been the biggest attraction in India, and this trend will continue in 2025 also. According to Google’s report, IPL (Indian Premier League) was the most searched topic in India in the year 2025.

Gemini AI beats everyone
Indian users showed a lot of interest in technology in 2025. This year there was a tremendous increase in searches related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Google Gemini stood second in overall top trending searches. This is Google’s newest and popular AI platform.
In the AI category, Indians also searched extensively for advanced AI tools ranging from Gemini AI Photo to Groke, DeepSeek, and Perplexity. It is clear that students, tech lovers and young professionals in India are finding ways to make AI a part of their studies and work.
Mahakumbh and Dharmendra
While on one hand the youth were searching for AI and cricket, on the other hand Indian culture and entertainment also dominated the list. A huge religious event like Maha Kumbh is visited by millions of people in India and abroad, which reflects our deep faith and culture. From the world of entertainment, the song “Sayara” and veteran actor Dharmendra were also included in the trending list.

What did people ask?
Google Search was used not only for entertainment but also for information and utility. ‘What is Ceasefire’ was the most searched word in the Meaning category, which shows the interest of Indians in global events. In utility search terms, people searched for topics like ‘Air Quality near me’ and ‘Earthquake near me’. This time Google also released ‘A to Z Search Trends’, where a popular search was associated with each letter.
Not only this, people have also searched extensively on the internet about #67 meme which became very famous among Gen alpha.
