Ramnagar: A heart-wrenching video from Amangarh Tiger Reserve located in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, is going viral. The tourists who were on a jungle safari trembled with fear when during the safari, a huge tusker elephant suddenly came on the road from the dense forest and started moving fast towards the gypsy. Within a few moments, the elephant started chasing the vehicle at full speed, due to which the thrill of the safari turned into terror.
Driver’s wisdom saved his life
It can be clearly heard in the video that after seeing the elephant running towards them, the female and male tourists sitting in the gypsy are repeatedly shouting in panic, “Get rid of the gypsy, get rid of it…!” This sudden incident stopped everyone’s heart. However, in this tense moment, the gypsy driver remained calm and handled the situation. He neither drove the vehicle at uncontrolled speed nor made any loud noise or shock which could have agitated the elephant further. He constantly moved the gypsy forward while maintaining a safe distance and within a few minutes took the tourists out of danger.
What was the reason for chasing?
Nature guide Rishabh, who was present during the incident, says that such moments often come up suddenly in the forest. According to him, tusker elephants sometimes get excited by sound, smell or movement and give chase. In such times, it is most important that drivers use experience and patience. He said that trained guides and drivers understand the behavior of wild animals very well, so they find a safe route without provoking the animal.
Video being shared on social media
This entire incident was recorded in the mobile cameras of tourists and is being shared widely on social media. While watching the video, people are stunned by the incredible speed of the Tusker, at the same time they are also appreciating the wisdom of the driver and the guide. Experts say that the increasing wildlife activities in Amangarh and Corbett areas are an indication that the forest is healthy and prosperous. But it also reminds that jungle safari should always be done with utmost caution, following rules and with the advice of trained guides.
