8th pay commission update: For many months, pensioners and employees of the Central Government were worried whether their pension would be revised by the 8th Pay Commission or not. As soon as the government released the terms of reference for the 8th Pay Commission, different employee organizations wrote letters to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister asking that pension revision should also be clearly included in it. Confusion had spread even among the common people that perhaps pension review was not included in this. Clearing this confusion, the Finance Ministry has made it clear in the Rajya Sabha that the 8th Pay Commission will also give its recommendations on pension related issues. This information is also important because lakhs of pensioners were waiting for a clear answer for a long time.
In Rajya Sabha, MPs Javed Ali Khan and Ramji Lal Suman asked through an unstarred question whether there is really no proposal for pension amendment in the 8th CPC? In response to this, Minister of State in the Finance Ministry, Pankaj Chaudhary clearly said that this is wrong. He said, “The 8th Commission will give its recommendations on many issues related to salary, allowances and pension etc.” This reply has given relief to the pensioners, because now it has become clear that the review of pension is also included in the agenda of the Commission.
