Profitable Pea Farming: Farmers are earning more profits in less time by early cultivation of green peas. Barabanki farmer Harishankar Verma says that the profit from pea crop in just two bighas is Rs 60 to 70 thousand. Its long, sweet pods and steady demand in the market make it the most profitable crop for the farmer.
Barabanki: Now farmers are paying more attention to the cultivation of green vegetables instead of traditional crops. In this, the early crop of green peas is proving to be especially beneficial for the farmers. Peas are mainly a winter crop and are always in good demand in the market. Being an early crop, farmers get better prices for it, which leads to good earnings per crop. Pea cultivation can be done easily on all types of drained lands, due to which farmers can earn good profits.
Farmer Harishankar Verma of Fatehabad village of Banki block area of Barabanki district has been doing early cultivation of green peas for many years. He started cultivating peas along with other crops, in which he got good profits. At present he is growing peas in about two bighas and is earning a profit of Rs 60 to 70 thousand from one crop.

Easy process of pea cultivation
He further explains that cultivating peas is very easy. First of all, the field is thoroughly plowed two to three times. After this, the field is leveled by spraying cow dung, potash and other fertilizers. Then pea seeds are sown line by line. After the plant grows, when flowers start appearing, then it is irrigated. Only two months after sowing of peas, the crop is ready, which can be plucked and sold directly in the market.
In this way, farmers can earn good profits from early cultivation of pea in less time and at less cost. Long and sweet pods, high yield and consistent demand in the market make it the most profitable crop for farmers.
