Urmila tells that when we were young, our mother used to keep roasted Mahua at our place, when our father used to work in the fields, we used to take Lata there and eat it. We used to drink water after eating Mahua Latta, which made the water taste good. Old fashioned people say that one cannot drink water on such an empty stomach. If there is a little mahua linseed and sesame lata then drinking water also becomes enjoyable. This is a pure thing. Mahua is eaten in many ways in Baghelkhand, such as Mahua Lata, Mahua Kathi, Mahua Pua, these things are made. Mahua is sweet, hence jaggery does not require sugar and is also good to eat.
How to make Mahua Lata?
First fry the Mahua in a pan or an earthen pot. Roast flaxseeds too, if you are adding sesame seeds then roast them too and grind them well while still hot. Then keep it in a box. You can eat it comfortably throughout the month.
