Studied law, then decided to become IPS
Daljit Singh Chaudhary was born on 25 November 1965 in Delhi. He first did B.Sc and then took LLB degree. After completing his law studies, only one thing came to his mind that he had to prepare for Civil Services and after this he started preparing for UPSC. In the year 1990, he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam and became IPS. He got Uttar Pradesh cadre and his journey started from here.

There was fear among the dacoits of Chambal
At the beginning of his career, Daljit Singh Choudhary got posting in the most difficult areas of UP. He was posted in the ravines of Chambal, Meerut, Agra, Etawah etc. At that time, big dacoits used to rule here, but when Daljit Singh entered the field, the dacoits were in trouble. The dacoits used to tremble on hearing his name. He destroyed the roots of many big gangs. Be it a shootout or an encounter, he always led from the front. He never backed down from it. Stories of his bravery are still told in the UP Police.
Four gallantry medals, national level player in shooting
Daljit Singh Chaudhary has so far received four Police Medals for Gallantry. Apart from this, he also received Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal. He is also a national level marksman i.e. shooting expert and a trained skydiver. He has always been on top in fitness and skills.
From UP to the country’s border security
From 2017, he went on central deputation from Uttar Pradesh. First he was ADG in ITBP, then became Special DG and ADG in CRPF. After that he became DG of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). On August 3, 2024, when terrorist attacks increased on the Pakistani border in Jammu, the Central Government made him the Director General of BSF. He further strengthened the security of the Pakistan and Bangladesh border. Everyone became emotional after watching the video of the emotional farewell given to him by the BSF soldiers.
34 years of service
In his career of 34 years, Daljit Singh Chaudhary gave new strength to the UP Police, strengthened the law and order and made the borders of the country impenetrable. He retired on 30 November 2025. He was also present in the ongoing DGP-IGP conference in Raipur.
