New Delhi. 31 km of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. The phase has started. After its launch, the drivers have got huge relief. Although right now it has been opened as a trial, but it will be fully opened soon. This expressway was to be operational about a year ago, there were some reasons due to which it got operationalized with a delay of about a year. Let us know what was the reason for this?
The work of Delhi to Dehradun Expressway is being done in four parts. In this, the work from Baghpat to Saharanpur has been done in two parts and from Akshardham to EPE Khekra in two parts. Work from Baghpat to Saharanpur has started about two years ago. 14.75 km from Akshardham to UP border via Geeta Colony, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas. And in the second package, 16.45 km from UP border to EPE Junction, Khekra via Mandola. The work has been completed.
What was the reason for the delay?
According to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), its work was completed almost last year. But there were many public facilities on the way, which have to be shifted. The Road Transport Ministry was continuously seeking permission for this from the then Delhi Government, but this work got delayed. The government gave permission late. Due to this, the transfer work got delayed. After the work was completed, the Baghpat to Akshardham Expressway was started.
The tender was also canceled
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had canceled the tender for phase one of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway because the progress report of the construction company was not according to the prescribed standards. That is, the amount of work that should have been done could not be done, which showed the negligence of the company regarding the work. The company was given notice several times, but it did not improve and the Ministry took action against the company and canceled the tender.
