Many people forget to drink water and this small habit gradually becomes a major cause of dehydration. Doctors say that every 10th patient suffers from lack of water in winter and ignoring this problem can be dangerous. Dehydration is not just a problem of summer, it remains a hidden danger in winter also.
What will happen if there is lack of water in the body?
When there is lack of water in the body, many processes start getting affected. Blood circulation slows down, kidneys are unable to remove toxins properly, electrolyte balance deteriorates and immunity begins to weaken. Its initial signs include headache, fatigue, dry skin, cracked lips, dark color of urine, muscle tension, fast heartbeat, falling blood pressure and mild dizziness. Elderly people, children and pregnant women are most sensitive in this condition.
What does Ayurveda say about water shortage?
In Ayurveda it is called ‘Trishna Vikar’. Due to lack of water, Rasadhatu becomes weak, Agni slows down and Vata starts increasing. Due to this, the body becomes dry, energy decreases and problems like constipation or gas may increase. Modern science also says that about 60 percent of the body is water and without it all the functioning of the body gets affected.
Easy way to stay healthy in winter
The best way in winter is to drink lukewarm water after waking up in the morning, take small amounts of water throughout the day and drink water 30 minutes before meals. Do not drink too much water while eating. 7-8 glasses of water is necessary even in winter. If there is more physical exertion then increase the amount of water. Lukewarm water is best in winter.
The habit of stopping urination can also increase the risk. This puts pressure on the kidneys, toxins start accumulating and the possibility of UTI increases. The bladder starts becoming weak.
