Aalu Ki Kheti: At present potatoes are being sown in most of the areas. Farmers are also taking many measures to earn profits. In this news, we will tell you by adopting which measures you can grow a high quality potato crop.
Kannauj: Potato cultivation is continuously increasing in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh and farmers are trying to set new records in its production every year. This year, potatoes have been sown in more than 55,000 hectares of area in the district, from which farmers are expecting good production. But experts say that if irrigation and fertilizer are not managed at the right time in the crop, it can cause huge losses.
When and how to irrigate potatoes
According to agricultural scientist Sushil Kumar, many farmers apply urea and DAP along with irrigation in the hope of quick profits. But this method causes loss instead of increasing production. When urea is added along with irrigation, it dissolves in water and goes deep into the soil and adequate nutrition does not reach the roots of the plants. Due to this, urea gets wasted, tubers do not develop properly and the size and shine of potatoes gets affected.
Agricultural scientist Sushil Kumar said that if farmers adopt awareness and scientific methods, new records can be made in potato production of Kannauj. He said that all that is needed is some changes in the method of farming and proper management on time. With this, farmers can not only save their crops from damage but can also earn good profits.
Tips for farmers
Experts say that timely irrigation and fertilization is necessary to ensure that the plants get adequate nutrition and water in the potato crop. Apart from this, there should be constant monitoring of moisture in the field and balance of fertilizer should be maintained according to the condition of the plants. By doing this, the yield of potatoes is higher, the size is larger and the quality is better.
