People of 25 villages belonging to the Khat style of Jaunsar Bawar tribal area of ​​Dehradun district have started a social reform movement. The people here have taken 9 important decisions in a mass meeting recently. In the open meeting here, it was decided that now English liquor or beer and fast food will not be served in marital functions.

Along with this, women will be able to wear only three ornaments in the programs i.e. Phuli in the nose, Tungal in the ears and Mangalsutra around the neck. The special thing is that Khatvasis will not participate in the programs of families who violate these decisions. Besides, a penalty of Rs 1 lakh will also be collected from the concerned family.

According to the decision taken in the group meeting, sweets and fruits can be given in the Rahini feast, but dry fruits and gifts will not be given. Giving silver coin as gift will also be prohibited. Earlier, decisions related to ban on wearing excessive jewelery by women have also been taken in Gram Panchayat Kharsi, Manuwa, Gehri, Kandaar etc. of Chakrata tehsil. Under the decision, women can wear only three gold ornaments. The women of these villages are also happy with this decision.

The reason behind this social reform movement is to reduce the rising inflation and tendency to show off, as well as to reduce the growing gap between the rich and the poor. Now in weddings here, there will be no drugs, fast food and women in heaps of jewellery.
