People of 25 villages belonging to the Khat style of Jaunsar Bawar tribal area of Dehradun district have started a social reform movement. The people here have taken 9 important decisions in a mass meeting recently. In the open meeting here, it was decided that now English liquor or beer and fast food will not be served in marital functions.
Along with this, women will be able to wear only three ornaments in the programs i.e. Phuli in the nose, Tungal in the ears and Mangalsutra around the neck. The special thing is that Khatvasis will not participate in the programs of families who violate these decisions. Besides, a penalty of Rs 1 lakh will also be collected from the concerned family.
