Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, while addressing the Maha Walkathon against Chitta at Police Ground, Dharamshala, announced to intensify the drug-free Himachal campaign. He greeted the public from the stage by saying “Radhe Radhe, Ram Ram” and said that he has not come to become the Chief Minister but to communicate with the public. Those selling chits will not do well in Devbhoomi.
The Chief Minister said in clear words that there is no place for chitta sellers in Devbhoomi Himachal. In 2024, the government strictly implemented the NDPS Act, under which emergency assets worth Rs 40 crore have been confiscated. Now the fight will extend beyond drug smugglers to their big dealers, who sell poison to the children of Himachal.
CM said that Anti-STF will become a powerful unit for drug eradication. Sukhu talked about strengthening Anti-STF with the coordination of all departments. An anti-chitta resolution was taken on Independence Day on 15th August in Sarkaghat, now Dharamshala will be supercharged with this campaign. Every person will become a warrior, so that drug addiction can be uprooted.
Reward Scheme: The Chief Minister today announced a reward of lakhs of rupees for providing information for the eradication of Chittha from the public platform. He also announced an attractive reward of Rs 10,000 for 2 grams for those giving information about Chittha. 25 thousand rupees for 5 grams. 50 thousand rupees for 25 grams. Rs 5 lakh per 1 kg. He announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for 5 kg and Rs 5 lakh for arresting the leader of the network. He also said that confidential information can be given on number 112, and while the name of the person giving the information will be kept confidential, a reward will also be provided within 30 days. Giving slogan for eradication of drugs from the stage, the Chief Minister said, ‘We will not be afraid, we will fight’
Deaths are continuously occurring due to consumption of chitta.
The Chief Minister gave the slogan – “We will not be afraid, we will fight. My Himachal, Chittha-free Himachal.” Every section of the society was asked to take the pledge of Chitta-free Himachal. Everyone was appealed to use #ChittaMuktHimachal hashtag on their mobile phones. It is noteworthy that in Himachal Pradesh, there are frequent deaths due to the intoxication of Chitta. Two youth lost their lives in Mandi last week. Similarly, in Nalagarh of Solan also a young man was found dead in the toilet. Youth are dying due to chitta in Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur and Kullu in the state.
