Chandigarh. A senior officer of Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier said on Sunday that after Operation Sindoor, the trend of dropping weapons from Pakistan has increased. The official said that BSF has recovered a large number of arms and ammunition which were dropped by Pakistan through drones.
BSF Inspector General (Punjab Frontier) Atul Fuljhele said this while addressing the media in Amritsar on the eve of the 61st raising day of the Border Security Force. Punjab has a 553 km long international border with Pakistan. The six border districts of the state are Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Firozpur and Fazilka.
Fulzhele said, “We have seen that the trend of dropping weapons has increased especially after ‘Operation Sindoor’.” He said that BSF soldiers have recovered more than 200 weapons of different types, most of which are pistols and some AK-47 rifles too. The IG said that BSF has not only recovered weapons this year, but also 265 magazines, 3,625 cartridges, 10 kg explosives and 12 hand grenades.
On May 7, under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile attacks on nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and occupied Kashmir. These bases included Jaish-e-Mohammed’s stronghold Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke. This operation was launched in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. 26 people lost their lives in this attack.
Highlighting the achievements of 2025, Fuljhele said that BSF seized 272 drones coming from across the border and also recovered 367.788 kg of heroin, 19,033 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) and 14.437 kg of opium.
He said that Punjab Frontier BSF also arrested 251 Indian suspects, 18 Pakistanis, three Bangladeshi and four Nepalese nationals. He said that three Pakistani infiltrators were killed. Fuljhele said that BSF Punjab is dedicated to securing the international border and combating the narcotics menace.
