The maximum length of this snake is 5.5 feet and its weight is up to one and a half kilograms. The surprising thing is that this snake is completely non-venomous, hence it is not possible for humans to die due to its bite. In Marathi it is known as Taskar, which is very beneficial for the farmers.
Mainly these snakes live in termite mounds, in old trees and in fields. They are so short-tempered that sometimes they even fake dying. A large number of them are seen in the Manguraha, Jamunia and Govardhana ranges of Bihar’s only tiger reserve ‘Valmiki’ located in West Champaran district.
On Thursday, forest personnel rescued this snake from the kitchen located at Rajgarhi Devi Sthan complex adjacent to Madanpur range of VTR. After the rescue, the snake was released safely in the dense forest of Madanpur forest area.
