New Delhi. The new podcast of Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of broking company Zerodha, has grabbed the headlines. It is clear from the teaser that this time the guest is not an ordinary person but the world’s richest man Elon Musk, who is often known for his outspoken opinions and unfiltered conversation. This episode has been released and you can watch it on Nikhil Kamat’s YouTube channel.
Despite the light-hearted tone of the episode, a big revelation has come to the fore. Musk has said that he tried several times to stop former US President Donald Trump from imposing tariffs, but he was not successful in his efforts.
Musk’s blunt opinion on tariffs
Musk said in the podcast that he tried to convince Trump that tariffs are harmful for any economy in the long run. He clearly said that Trump likes tariffs and he was not going to back down from his decision in this matter.
In Musk’s words, tariffs disrupt markets and make trade less efficient. Giving an interesting example, he said that if tariffs are imposed even between cities or states, any economy will come to a halt. They apply the same logic to trade between countries.
Musk’s light-hearted style was also seen in the teaser
Nikhil Kamath had released the teaser in black and white style, in which a funny conversation between the two was also seen. Kamath praises Musk’s fitness and also questions his choice of favorite letter ‘X’.
An interesting question in the teaser is that if Musk becomes any character in the movie ‘The Matrix’ then which one would it be? Musk immediately replies Agent Smith, and that too laughing.
Kamath’s podcast with big names before
Kamath’s podcast has already hosted many big personalities. These include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bill Gates, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, YouTube’s Neil Mohan, actor Sunil Shetty and Oyo’s Ritesh Aggarwal. Musk’s entry is considered to be one of the most high-profile talks in this lineup.
The influence of both Musk and Kamath is big
According to Forbes, Elon Musk’s net worth is $482 billion, which makes him the richest person in the world. On the other hand, Nikhil Kamath’s net worth is around $2.5 billion and he is the co-founder of Zerodha, which is one of the largest broking companies in India.
