Tomato Farming in Pots: Tomato is an essential part of the kitchen and to avoid its rising prices, growing tomatoes in pots is a better option. According to Dr. NP Gupta, agricultural expert of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, by planting 1-2 plants in a big pot, about 1 kg tomato can be produced daily. For this, an earthen pot 12–18 inches deep is most suitable. While preparing the pot soil, 50% garden soil, 30% coco peat and 20% compost/manure should be mixed, which provides good nutrition to the roots. After planting the seedlings, do light irrigation and do not allow waterlogging. Periodic weeding improves growth and spraying neem oil is beneficial for pest control. With proper care, plants start bearing fruits in 40–45 days.
