Bihar politics: RLMO had performed well in Bihar elections 2025. Where the party contested elections on 6 seats, it won 4 and emerged victorious. But for the past few days, discord in the party is being exposed openly. A few days ago two prominent leaders had resigned from the party. After this, party chief Upendra Kushwaha dissolved the organization on Sunday. It is believed that the controversy has deepened over making son Deepak Prakash a minister. Dissatisfaction increased in the party.
Patna: After the Bihar assembly election results, on one hand the government is focusing on development work, while on the other hand, RLMO, the party which performed well in the assembly elections for the first time, is in political turmoil. Now a big stir has started in the political roots of Bihar. MP cum party chief Upendra Kushwaha has taken a big decision to dissolve the state and district unit i.e. the entire organizational structure of his party Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) with immediate effect. He took charge of this announcement and this decision was passed unanimously in the core committee meeting.
New board of directors formed, but controversy deepens
Giving this information, the party’s national general secretary and spokesperson Fazal Imam Mallik said that a five-member steering committee has been immediately formed to run the party. Madan Chaudhary has been made the coordinator of the committee. Subhash Chandravanshi, Prashant Pankaj, Himanshu Patel and RK Sinha have been made members of the committee. The meeting was mainly attended by MLAs Madhav Anand, Alok Singh, Rampukar Sinha, Jangbahadur Singh, Angad Kushwaha, Thakur Dharmendra Singh, Brajendra Pappu, Chandan Bagchi, Sukul Ram and Smriti Kumud.

What is the whole controversy? Nepotism or political loss?
According to experts, the real uproar started when Upendra Kushwaha made his son Deepak Prakash a minister in the state government without contesting the elections. This move spread unwanted resentment within the party. Many leaders termed it as family politics and ignoring party interests. He says that he struggled in the election field, built the party, but now power is revolving only around the family. This was the reason why most of those who resigned clearly wrote that they were no longer able to see the politics of RLMO.
In this year’s Bihar Assembly elections 2025, RLMO had contested a total of 6 seats. Of these, four candidates Rameshwar Kumar Mahato (Bajpatti), Madhav Anand (Madhubani), Snehlata Kushwaha (Sasaram) and Alok Kumar Singh (Dinara) emerged victorious. Two candidates, Madan Chaudhary from Paru and Prashant Pankaj from Ujiarpur, had to face defeat. Thus, the success rate of RLMO was around 66%. This was the first time that RLMO had contested the assembly elections. Analysts believe that if RLMO wants to maintain its existence, then it will now have to focus on transparent organization, proper mass movement, development and social justice politics instead of caste equations. Otherwise it will just be an attitude and behavior like a burning lamp.
