Muzaffarpur: A state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit (CCU) block will soon be constructed in the Sadar Hospital complex of Muzaffarpur, Bihar for the health facilities of the people of the city and district. Its construction process has started. With the construction of this unit, seriously ill patients will no longer have to run to other cities for treatment. The proposed critical care unit will have about 100 beds, which will be developed as per modern medical standards. The working area of the building under construction has been kept at 35.6 meters × 49.3 meters, which will give the appearance of a grand and multi-storey building. This building will be of G+6 i.e. ground plus six floors, in which ICU related facilities will be developed on different floors.
The government has proposed to complete this ambitious project within one year. According to the site engineer, work is being done at a fast pace to complete the construction work within the stipulated time. Special attention is being paid to quality and safety standards in building construction, so that there are no technical or structural problems in future.
Hospital Superintendent B.S. Jha said that the opening of the Critical Care Unit will provide great relief to serious patients. He said that all types of serious patients, including children, elderly and youth, will be admitted to this unit. Here, patients will be given special monitoring 24 hours a day and will not be shifted to the general ward until their condition becomes stable.
This unit will function completely as an ICU, where a team of trained specialist doctors, nursing staff and state-of-the-art medical equipment will be available. Facilities like ventilator, monitoring system, oxygen support and emergency response will also be present here. With the commissioning of this CCU block, serious patients not only of Muzaffarpur but also of the surrounding districts will be able to get timely and better treatment.
